PGD governance

Versioned PGDs, sign-offs that never go stale.

PGD templates are versioned with the governing PDF attached. When a new version lands, old sign-offs expire, everyone is notified, and subscriptions, consultations and service affiliations cascade to the new protocol.

The differentiator

Every consult tied to a PGD version

Upgrade a protocol and everything that depends on it moves with it. No one delivers a service against an expired direction without the system knowing.

✓Semantic versioning. Each PGD template carries its version history with the governing PDF attached.
✓Sign-off tracking. Practitioner sign-offs are tracked per version; a new version expires the old sign-offs and notifies everyone.
✓Cascading updates. Subscriptions, consultations and service affiliations follow the protocol upgrade automatically.

PGD library in the practitioner portal: services grouped by PGD, each enabled or disabled with its sign-off date
Your library

Every PGD you subscribe to, in one place

The practitioner's library shows each PGD service the organisation has subscribed to, whether it is enabled for them, the date of the current version and a sign-off button when a new version is waiting. Scripter-managed PGDs carry the governing document alongside.

✓Enabled or disabled per practitioner. A service only appears in a practitioner's consultation list once they have signed off the current version.
✓Sign-off in one click. When a version changes, the card asks for a fresh sign-off; the old one expires automatically.
✓Managed by Scripter. Templates written and maintained by Scripter show the governing PGD and its version history from the same card.
Safe delivery

Structured flows for safe prescribing within scope

Our PGDs support the registered healthcare professionals authorised to supply under them, from non-IP pharmacists and nurses to paramedics and physiotherapists, conducting clinical consultations within their training scope, with clinical decision trees enforcing referral criteria.

✓Subscription model. Subscription-based PGDs reduce overheads; each subscription comes with its own clinical template.
✓Decision support. Red flags route to a GP referral; inclusion criteria route to supply, all documented.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to what pharmacy teams ask about PGD governance.

Does Scripter support PGDs?+

Yes. PGD templates are versioned with the governing PDF attached; practitioner sign-offs are tracked, and when a new version lands old sign-offs expire and subscriptions, consultations and service affiliations cascade to the new protocol.

What happens when a PGD is updated?+

Old sign-offs expire, every affected practitioner is notified, and the subscriptions, consultations and service affiliations move to the new version automatically.

Who can deliver services under a PGD?+

PGDs can be used by the registered healthcare professions listed in Schedule 16, Part 4 of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012: pharmacists, chiropodists and podiatrists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, dietitians, midwives, nurses, occupational therapists, optometrists, orthoptists, orthotists and prosthetists, paramedics, physiotherapists, radiographers, and speech and language therapists. On Scripter the platform additionally enforces roles, so each practitioner delivers only the services their sign-offs and training scope allow.
