What is Meningococcal ACWY?

MenACWY conjugate vaccines protect against four meningococcal groups in one dose, with certification recognised for Hajj and Umrah visas. Several brands (Nimenrix, Menveo, MenQuadfi) serve different age groups.

The condition it treats

Meningococcal disease is rapid, devastating bacterial meningitis and septicaemia. Travel risk concentrates in the African meningitis belt in dry season and in mass gatherings, which is why Saudi Arabia mandates vaccination for pilgrims.

How the service runs on Scripter

Patients book online, complete the pre-consultation questionnaire, and the guided pathway walks the practitioner through the meningococcal ACWY protection consultation with the screening and counselling steps built in. The supply decision, the record and any GP notification are produced in the same flow, documented against the exact protocol version in force.

Training and eligibility requirements.

Who can deliver this service, and who it can be delivered to. The governing PGD document defines the definitive inclusion, exclusion and supply criteria; the Scripter consultation pathway enforces them, and every consultation is documented against the protocol version it ran under.

Meningococcal ACWY PGD questions

When must the vaccine be given for a Hajj visa?+

Within the validity window Saudi Arabia specifies, and at least 10 days before arrival; the consultation dates the certificate to satisfy the checkpoint, not just the immunology.

Does this replace the teenage MenACWY dose?+

A documented recent MenACWY dose may already satisfy both protection and paperwork; the consultation checks the history before vaccinating again.

Does it cover meningococcal B?+

No; group B has its own vaccines and its own pathway. The consultation maps which groups the itinerary actually calls for.
