What is Hepatitis A?

Hepatitis A vaccine is an inactivated vaccine giving excellent protection from a single dose, with a booster at 6 to 12 months extending it for decades. It is among the most frequently indicated travel vaccines.

The condition it treats

Hepatitis A is a liver infection spread through contaminated food and water, common across much of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Rarely fatal but reliably miserable for weeks to months, it is one of the most preventable travel illnesses.

How the service runs on Scripter

Patients book online, complete the pre-consultation questionnaire, and the guided pathway walks the practitioner through the hepatitis a protection for travel consultation with the screening and counselling steps built in. The supply decision, the record and any GP notification are produced in the same flow, documented against the exact protocol version in force.

Training and eligibility requirements.

Who can deliver this service, and who it can be delivered to. The governing PGD document defines the definitive inclusion, exclusion and supply criteria; the Scripter consultation pathway enforces them, and every consultation is documented against the protocol version it ran under.

Hepatitis A PGD questions

Is one dose enough for the trip?+

Yes for the journey ahead; a single dose protects within a couple of weeks. The 6-to-12-month booster is what extends protection for around 25 years, and the pathway books it.

We leave tomorrow. Too late?+

Usually not; the vaccine is worth giving right up to departure for most itineraries, and the consultation documents the timing honestly.

Combined hepatitis A and B: when is that smarter?+

Longer trips, work exposure or itineraries meeting both risks; the combined pathway covers exactly that decision.
