What is Adapalene / benzoyl peroxide (Epiduo)?

Epiduo combines a topical retinoid (adapalene) with benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial that kills Cutibacterium acnes without breeding antibiotic resistance. The combination targets blocked pores, bacteria and inflammation in one nightly application.

The condition it treats

Acne vulgaris blends comedones with inflamed papules and pustules. Combination therapy is recommended where inflammation is present, and using benzoyl peroxide rather than a topical antibiotic protects antibiotic stewardship.

How the service runs on Scripter

Patients book online, complete the pre-consultation questionnaire, and the guided pathway walks the practitioner through the acne vulgaris consultation with the screening and counselling steps built in. The supply decision, the record and any GP notification are produced in the same flow, documented against the exact protocol version in force.

Training and eligibility requirements.

Who can deliver this service, and who it can be delivered to. The governing PGD document defines the definitive inclusion, exclusion and supply criteria; the Scripter consultation pathway enforces them, and every consultation is documented against the protocol version it ran under.

Adapalene / benzoyl peroxide (Epiduo) PGD questions

Why choose Epiduo over adapalene alone?+

When inflamed spots accompany blackheads and whiteheads, the benzoyl peroxide component adds antibacterial action; the consultation matches the preparation to the presentation.

Will it bleach clothing?+

Benzoyl peroxide bleaches fabric; the counselling step covers white pillowcases and washing hands after application, small things that decide whether patients persist.

Is skin irritation normal?+

Mild dryness and irritation are common early on and usually settle; the pathway includes a stepped approach (alternate nights, moisturiser) before abandoning treatment.
