What is Dapoxetine (Priligy)?

Dapoxetine is a short-acting selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) designed for on-demand use, taken one to three hours before sexual activity. It is the only licensed oral treatment for premature ejaculation in the UK and is marketed as Priligy.

The condition it treats

Premature ejaculation is ejaculation that persistently occurs sooner than the man or couple wishes, with distress as part of the definition. It is the most common male sexual complaint, and a structured consultation distinguishes lifelong from acquired patterns and screens the psychological and physical factors involved.

How the service runs on Scripter

Patients book online, complete the pre-consultation questionnaire, and the guided pathway walks the practitioner through the premature ejaculation consultation with the screening and counselling steps built in. The supply decision, the record and any GP notification are produced in the same flow, documented against the exact protocol version in force.

Training and eligibility requirements.

Who can deliver this service, and who it can be delivered to. The governing PGD document defines the definitive inclusion, exclusion and supply criteria; the Scripter consultation pathway enforces them, and every consultation is documented against the protocol version it ran under.

Dapoxetine (Priligy) PGD questions

Is dapoxetine taken every day?+

No. It is an on-demand treatment taken one to three hours before anticipated sexual activity, never more than once in 24 hours.

Why does the consultation ask about fainting?+

Dapoxetine can cause orthostatic hypotension. The pathway includes postural symptom screening and hydration counselling because that is where the real-world risk sits.

Can it be combined with an ED treatment?+

Only within the criteria of the governing PGDs; the consultation flags the combination and documents the rationale when both are appropriate.
