What is HPV vaccine?

The 9-valent HPV vaccine protects against the virus types responsible for most cervical, anal, penile and throat cancers and genital warts. The private service covers people who missed the school programme or are outside its age range, with the number of doses set by age at first dose.

The condition it treats

Human papillomavirus is a common sexually transmitted infection; most people clear it, but persistent infection with high-risk types drives several cancers. Vaccination before or early in sexual activity gives the strongest protection, but later vaccination still has value.

How the service runs on Scripter

Patients book online, complete the pre-consultation questionnaire, and the guided pathway walks the practitioner through the HPV-related cancer prevention consultation with the screening and counselling steps built in. The supply decision, the record and any GP notification are produced in the same flow, documented against the exact protocol version in force.

Training and eligibility requirements.

Who can deliver this service, and who it can be delivered to. The governing PGD document defines the definitive inclusion, exclusion and supply criteria; the Scripter consultation pathway enforces them, and every consultation is documented against the protocol version it ran under.

HPV vaccine PGD questions

I missed it at school. Is it too late?+

No. The vaccine is licensed well into adulthood and still reduces future risk even after sexual activity has begun.

How many doses will I need?+

It depends on age at the first dose; older starters need more doses, and the consultation sets the schedule.

Does it protect men?+

Yes. It prevents genital warts and anal, penile and throat cancers, and reduces transmission.
