What is Wegovy tablet (oral semaglutide)?

Oral semaglutide brings GLP-1 therapy to a daily tablet, using an absorption enhancer so the peptide survives the stomach. It suits patients who want GLP-1 results without a weekly injection, with the same appetite-reduction mechanism.

The condition it treats

Obesity management with an oral GLP-1 opens the therapy to needle-averse patients, but the dosing rules (empty stomach, small water volume, 30-minute wait) make counselling the difference between effect and expensive disappointment.

How the service runs on Scripter

Patients book online, complete the pre-consultation questionnaire, and the guided pathway walks the practitioner through the weight loss consultation with the screening and counselling steps built in. The supply decision, the record and any GP notification are produced in the same flow, documented against the exact protocol version in force.

Training and eligibility requirements.

Who can deliver this service, and who it can be delivered to. The governing PGD document defines the definitive inclusion, exclusion and supply criteria; the Scripter consultation pathway enforces them, and every consultation is documented against the protocol version it ran under.

Wegovy tablet (oral semaglutide) PGD questions

Tablet or injection: how do patients choose?+

Effectiveness favours the established injectable at maintenance doses; convenience and needle comfort favour the tablet. The consultation lays out both honestly and records the choice.

Why is the empty-stomach rule such a big deal?+

Food or too much water destroys the tablet's absorption; taken wrong, it simply does not work. The pathway drills the routine because adherence to it is the treatment.

Can a patient switch between tablet and injection?+

Switching is possible within the governing PGDs' criteria; the record carries the dose history that makes the equivalent step obvious.
